I’m a program manager at a data company in the healthcare industry. We have advocates nation-wide that screen patients to see if they’re eligible for Medicare, Medicaid, or other local programs.
Opportunity / Challenge
What challenge were you trying to address with Baytech Consulting?
We wanted to digitize our processes with a tablet-based program so the patient screening process could be more efficient at the moment of care.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Baytech Consulting created an iPad application that can also be accessed on a computer. The iPad solution is a mobile version of the main application used at our service centers. So far, the platform has launched in Texas. As the solution continues to roll out, the team will begin phase two: designing workflows and work queues.
What is the team composition?
Currently, the team’s primary function is technical development, and we work with seven developers. However, initially, Baytech Consulting was hired to do design, development, and project management. Due to internal changes and a widening scope, we’ve shifted the design and project management internally.
How did you come to work with Baytech Consulting?
Internal stakeholders had a face-to-face meeting with Baytech Consulting. They felt the team had the expertise necessary to accomplish goals in a timely matter compared with other vendors.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working on the project in June 2017, and we’re rolling out the solution now.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
In Texas, our users have adopted the solution faster than we thought they would. This is partly because complex issues are resolved immediately by Baytech Consulting. We solicit feedback daily and if a complicated issue arises, Baytech almost always knows how to solve the problem. In particular, Jeff (Partner, Baytech Consulting) has gone above and beyond. He is always available and intuitively identifies user issues.
How did Baytech Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?
Recently, our new CIO requested to shift project management to internal stakeholders. However, before that switch, their project management was excellent. They were responsive, clear communicators and they satisfied our needs exceptionally well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They are a flexible, open-minded team. If we ask them questions about an issue, they aren’t defensive. They remain calm, listen, and then propose solutions. This approach makes the process less stressful.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The time zone difference between the west and east coast has been a challenge. However, this isn’t a criticism as they were always open to meeting on our schedule.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Clients should take the time to define detailed project requirements before the partnership begins. They should also have a technical stakeholder available to collaborate with the team.
