I am the vice president at a financial services company for a state school district. I head up the department of fee analytics.

What challenge were you trying to address with Baytech Consulting?

We had some development needs that we couldn’t handle in-house.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Baytech Consulting built a new tool for our base software package. They added additional features to the tool, which would serve as an add-on to the package. Their team uses an Aurelia framework on the frontend. Baytech Consulting is now working on the software package as a whole.

What is the team composition?

I was in touch with the owners of Baytech Consulting, but my main technical contact was Patrick (Software Developer, Baytech Consulting).

How did you come to work with Baytech Consulting?

I found Baytech Consulting through Clutch. After searching for top developers in Orange County, I came across this site which had a convenient interface showing me their job size and how many people were on their team. Those general parameters were helpful, so I reached out to the top two companies in Orange County and one was Baytech Consulting.

How much have you invested with them?

We have invested about $40,000–$45,000

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing engagement with Baytech Consulting began in April 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I’m satisfied with the quality of their work. Baytech Consulting is incredibly communicative. I haven’t really been able to put what they’ve built to use yet or tested it, but that’s not really on them. They got the major components done in a couple of months, but on my side, the timeline was pretty loose.

I enjoy working with Patrick quite a bit. He’s easy to work with and always checks in with weekly calls and updates. Their whole team is transparent. As a small company, it was normal for us to be nervous about making a big investment, but it’s been a great experience. I had wanted to try a professional development team, and they’ve consistently delivered quality products.

How did Baytech Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?

Right off the bat, Baytech Consulting introduced me to all their internal tools. They have morning meetings to update the team on the flow of projects. I wasn’t interested in joining their daily meetings, so we moved to a weekly Friday meeting to update me on the week’s progress and let me ask any questions I had. We primarily communicated through Slack because it was my preferred method.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Baytech Consulting is significantly more focused than anyone else I’ve worked with. Their whole team is on the same page and has the same laser-focus.

Are there any areas they could improve?

While I’ve enjoyed our collaboration so far and they’re pretty quick with estimates, it would be nice to get those estimates more regularly. I’d like more routine bills that outline the hours they’ve worked and what they’ve completed. They always do give me a breakdown on the bills, I would just like to get it on a more frequent basis.
